Head of Spain

Head of Spain, 2008. C-print, 25 x 28 inches.
I excised the freeway network of Spain from a paper road map, then arranged it to resemble the head of a bull. I've been told that Spain is sometimes referred to as "la piel de toro" (bull skin) because of the description from the Greek geographer Strabonis, who compared the shape of Spain to a bull’s hide stretched out under the sun.
